This Is Why I No Longer Trust The New York Times

WNU Editor: This weekend the New York Times reporter Michael S. Schmidt wrote the following post .... Trump, Offering No Evidence, Says Obama Tapped His Phones (New York Times). The key part ....

.... WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — President Trump on Saturday accused former President Barack Obama of tapping his phones at Trump Tower the month before the election, levelling the explosive allegation without offering any evidence.

Mr. Trump called his predecessor a “bad (or sick) guy” on Twitter as he fired off a series of messages claiming that Mr. Obama “had my ‘wires tapped.’” He likened the supposed tapping to “Nixon/Watergate” and “McCarthyism,” though he did not say where he had gotten his information.

Fair enough .... President Trump did not offer any evidence. But .... same reporter last month (February 14, 2017) .... Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence (Michael Schmidt, New York Times). The key part ....

.... Phone records and intercepted calls show that members of Donald J. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and other Trump associates had repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election, according to four current and former American
officials.

American law enforcement and intelligence agencies intercepted the communications around the same time they were discovering evidence that Russia was trying to disrupt the presidential election by hacking into the Democratic National Committee, three of the officials said. The intelligence agencies then sought to learn whether the Trump campaign was colluding with the Russians on the hacking or other efforts to influence the election.

How can a reporter discount a story this past weekend that President Trump believes he is being "bugged" .... while admitting a month earlier that phone intercepts were leaked to him that justify his claim that there were/are contacts between Trump officials and Russian officials.

This is one of many reasons why I no longer trust the New York Times, Washington Post, etc. on stories that concern President Trump. Their biases and lack of professionalism is now so galling and obvious .... coupled with their raw hatred of President Trump .... they have lost their objectivity.

I know among my progressive friends and readers of this blog that it must be very uncomfortable for them to even think about the possibility that maybe the Obama administration ordered then candidate Donald Trump to be put under surveillance. But considering the past .... the Obama administrations long history of monitoring and spying on individuals (case in point James Rosen at FOX news) .... even including close allies to the U.S. (case in point German Chancellor Merkel) .... and the illegal leaks that have been coming out that clearly indicate President Trump is being monitored and spied on by U.S. officials .... I am suggesting to everyone that they should keep an open mind, and to not discount any possibilities .... and to definitely take with a grain of salt what the main stream media is saying.
