China's new communication satellite, the APSTAR-6C, was launched on Friday at the southwestern Xichang Satellite Launch Centre.
The APSTAR-6C is equipped to provide TV transmission, communication, Internet and multimedia services to customers across Asia-Pacific region.
The launch took place at 00:06 China time on Friday and the satellite was sent into orbit by the Long March-3B carrier rocket.
The rocket and the satellite were developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.
The launch marked China's 273rd mission of the Long March rocket series.
According to a Reuters report, the user of the satellite is APT Satellite Co. Ltd from Hong Kong.
