WNU Editor: It is the AP who is reporting this story .... AP Interview: Kremlin Support For Assad Not Unconditional (AP). The tone of these  remarks are opposite from what Russian President Putin is trying to convey .... that it is "unacceptable to make groundless" accusations on who was responsible for this weekend's chemical attack in Syria .... Russia's Putin attacks "groundless" accusations on Syria gas incident (Reuters). More here .... Putin rebukes Netanyahu over ‘groundless’ accusations on suspected chemical incident in Syria (RT).

What is my take. I just finished talking with a friend in Russia who follows these things very closely. He believes that the Kremlin is frustrated on what has happened .... and while their instinct is to blame the rebels, they also have no illusions on how brutal Syrian President Assad can be. But what they do know is that this atrocity now opens the door for a greater U.S. involvement in Syria .... and that is something they definitely do not want.
