Leading news outlets establish transparency standards to help readers identify trustworthy news sources

WNU Editor: Regular readers of this blog know that when it comes to news organizations .... my criticism of the main stream media is not on the news that they cover .... it is on the news that they choose to not cover and/or under-report. Unfortunately .... from what I have read so far .... this is not part of the mandate for the "Trust Project". Their focus is to assess the reliability of a news story and the publisher behind it by allowing users to learn more about the organization behind the news and come to their own conclusions about the content. This sounds great in principle .... but I think most consumers of the news are already prejudiced in their opinions, and they will stick with their news sources whether they have a "Trust Indicator" from this group or not.
