Vietnam Navy Took the Second Pair of Frigates Project 11661 "Gepard-3.9" enter Service

TSAMTO - During the ceremony held on February 6 at the Cam Ranh naval base, the second pair of Vietnamese frigate of the project 11661 Gepard-3.9, built at Zelenodolsky Plant named after AM Gorky, was officially admitted to the Vietnam Navy.

According to the resource Baomoi.com, the ceremony was attended by the Deputy Commander of the Vietnamese Navy Hoan Hong Ha. Both frigates were included in the 162nd Marine Brigade of the 4th Naval District of the Vietnamese Navy.

As already reported by TSAMTO, "Zelenodolsky Plant or AM Gorky"on February 15, 2013 signed a subcontract with" Rosoboronexport "to supply the Vietnamese Navy with the second pair of  "Gepard-3.9" frigates with enhanced anti-submarine weapons.

The launch of the third and fourth frigates "Gepard-3.9", intended for the Vietnamese Navy, took place on April 28 and May 26, 2016. Both frigates were sighted in August 2016 when they were towed on the Volga (near the plant in Zelenodolsk) on their way to the place of conducting sea trials in the Black Sea.

The third frigate, Gepard-3.9, named Trần Hưng Đạo (HQ 015), was taken by the Rolldock Star transport vessel to the port of Cam Ran on October 27, 2017, the fourth, Quang Trung (HQ 016), on January 21, 2018 . Warranties for these ships will be in force until May 9, 2018.
