ISRO Has Big Plans In The Year: Chairman Sivan

GSLV-Mk2 is India's medium-lift launch vehicle

‘Organisation also involved in developing an application to ensure safety of fishermen’

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has big plans during the year ahead said its Chairman K. Sivan

Speaking to the media, Dr. Sivan said that the Indian space calendar includes the immediate launch of GSLV-Mk.2 during the month-end, the ambitious Chandrayaan-2 mission, GSAT-11 among other programmes. In reply to a question, he said the organisation was also involved in developing an application to ensure safety of the Indian fishermen and prevent them from straying into international waters.

Private Players

The private players are very keen to join the space race and hence ISRO is also encouraging their active participation in certain tasks and manufacturing components. He said the ISRO was also working in developing the satellite-based communication system to support development and education.
