President Trump Meets Japanese Prime Minister Abe At Mar-a-Lago



USA Today: Trump meets anxious Abe at Mar-a-Lago, with North Korea and trade on the agenda

PALM BEACH, Fla. — Amid tensions over North Korea, trade policy and investigations of their administrations, President Trump began meetings Tuesday with the leader of an anxious ally: Japan.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate seeking an exemption to U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum, and assurances that the president will take Japanese security into account when he meets with North Korea leader Kim Jong Un. Abe is also losing political support at home over an investigation into questionable land sales.

“I want to reaffirm our cooperation on North Korea, our cooperation on economic matters, and show the strong ties between our two countries,” Abe told reporters before leaving Tokyo.

Trump tweeted Tuesday that he was looking forward to working with Abe on on trade and military security.

WNU Editor: I suspect that they are going to have a good meeting, and some issues are going to be resolved/cleared up in regards to trade and North Korea. But Japanese Prime Minister has political problems back home, and PResident Trump cannot help him on that.
