RFE: Iran's Leader Calls For Support For Rohani In Face Of Fresh US Sanctions
Iran's supreme leader has called on state bodies to support the government of President Hassan Rohani in fighting looming U.S. economic sanctions, saying America's "conspiracy" could be defeated, Iranian media have reported.
"I strongly believe that, if the government takes the necessary measures, it will be able to overcome problems and defeat the U.S. conspiracy," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a meeting with Rohani and his cabinet ministers.
Khamenei also said that "except for a few cases, such as the U.S., the country's relations with the East and the West should be increasingly enhanced."
The emergency meeting was convened by Khamenei on July 15 to discuss the country's worsening economic situation.

WNU Editor: Since the U.S. announcement of new sanctions, Iran has been sending its representatives abroad to find out ways that they could circumvent U.S. sanctions .... Iran sends representatives abroad to find a way out from looming sanctions (Washington Times). I suspect that the news that they are receiving is not good, and that they are now assessing what the real impact of U.S. sanctions will be on the Iranian economy and on the Iranian government. Bottom line .... hard times are coming, and the Iranian leadership are now positioning themselves by giving a heads-up to its citizens that they better support the government.
