France 24: Macron to address nation in wake of violent protests
Faced with violent anti-government protests in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday will announce new measures in an attempt to rally support for environment-friendly tax increases.
Paris was counting the cost of clashes between police and demonstrators Sunday on the Champs-Elysees where barricades were set on fire, luxury shop windows smashed, and traffic lights uprooted. Some 30 people were injured and 101 arrested, police said.
The government blamed much of the violence on a small minority of "ultra-right" activists who infiltrated some 8,000 demonstrators wearing the yellow, high-visibility vests that symbolise their week-long protests against hikes in fuel tax.

WNU Editor: French President Emmanuel Macron is blaming "ultra-right" activists for this weekend's violence. But this unrest has now been ongoing for the past week, and if you look at the protestors, you will notice that most are middle-aged (or older) men and women. This is a massive revolt over high energy taxes and French President Macron's determination to raise it even higher to combat "climate change". And while global prices are going down because of efficiencies in oil production, this is not the case for the French. French President Emmanuel Macron is not going to reverse his decision .... this is going to get worse .... far worse.
