The Russians are the likely culprits behind disruption to GPS systems over northern Scandinavia during recent NATO exercises, Norway's defence minister said on Tuesday.
Finland's air navigation services were forced to issue an air traffic warning last week due to the massive GPS interruption in the north of the country.
Norway made a similar warning last month, days before the start of Trident Juncture, NATO's largest military exercise since the Cold War involving 50,000 troops in an area stretching from the Baltic Sea to Iceland.
Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipila said on Sunday it was 'possible that Russia has been the disrupting party in this. Russia is known to possess such capabilities.'
