Thai Destroyer Visited Hong Kong and Vietnam on the Way Home

The Royal Thai Navy's latest destroyer, the HTMS Tachin (FFG-471) on its way back from Korea, will visit a host of Asian countries, with the first stop. The first is Hong Kong.

Reportedly, HTMS Tachin (FFG-471) is one of the two DW 3000F class warships built by South Korea's Daewoo Marine Group for the Royal Thai Navy . And in the process of returning home this ship with a visit to some Asian countries. Images of HTMS Tachin visited Hong Kong to get essentials on December 26 last.

Accordingly, HTMS Tachin is the first new DW 3000F class in Korea, and the second class of this class is expected to be built by Thailand under the technology transfer from Daewoo.



Although the process of transferring HTMS Tachin was slow, but with the current South Korean route to Thailand, it is likely that the Thai Navy will still receive the destroyer on 6 January 2019 in accordance plan.

It is known that the DW 3000F destroyer was modified by Daewoo from Gwanggaeto's Korean destroyer class, the HTMS Tachin ship was launched by Korea in early 2017 and after a year it completed sea trials and was available. ready to join the Royal Thai Navy.

These are stealth shafts, possessing extremely advanced technology and a huge array of weapons including a 76mm cannon and a 20mm Phalanx high-speed cannon for close-range defenses.

HTMS Tachin's missile power includes 8 vertical Mk.41 launchers with the ability to deploy missiles such as the RIM-162 ESSM or SM-2 or VL-ASROC and the 8 Harpoon anti-ship missile system.



In addition, the ship is also equipped with 4 324mm Mark 54 type torpedo tubes designed and manufactured by the US.

Besides the above weapons system, the HTMS Tachin is also equipped with a helicopter flight deck behind the stern and can carry a naval helicopter.

HTMS Tachin entered Da Nang port Vietnam, on December 31, for three days visit, the ship will continue the journey on the way home on Januari, 3 2019.  .
