A poet has described his shock at finding out the graveyard in which his father's remains were kept has been flattened - as it's revealed more than 100 Uighur graveyards have been demolished by Chinese authorities.

Aziz Isa Elkun, who lives in north London, has told of how he has 'no idea' where his father's remains are after China began destroying burial grounds where generations of Uighur families have been laid to rest.

He fled China's far western Xinjiang region nearly 30 years ago and has only been able to view his father's tomb in Xayar County on Google Maps after he was told he should not return to the country.

But when he went to look at the grave last year, a new satellite image showed that it had been completely destroyed alongside all the other tombs in the graveyard.
