VPAF's VRS-2DM radar (all photos VietDefense)
290th Regiment of the Vietnam People's Air Defense-Air Force carrying out a timed setup & tear-down exercise with the VRS-2DM low-altitude radar system.
This radar was developed by the Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group as a modernized version of the old Soviet P-19 radar. Tests had been carried out with aircraft from the Vietnam People's Air Force.
Although they're seen mostly on the mainland, these radar systems are currently operating in the Vietnamese-controlled portions of the Spratly Islands and provide valuable coverage for the Vietnamese island garrisons.
The system has also been exported to Laos.
