What Is My Initial Take On The Biden - Putin Geneva Summit

WNU Editor: This is a better summit when compared to the U.S. - China Alaska summit fiasco two months ago.

And the above picture (from the Drudge Report) will be the message that the U.S. main stream media will spread.

But this is not a win for President Biden.

He looked good at the beginning of his news conference, but it fell apart at the end.

His answers were very vague, and I cannot help but feel that nothing of substance was accomplished in this summit.

He also only took questions from U.S. reporters, not foreign reporters. This was a big mistake.

Biden toning down his harsh Putin rhetoric has also been noted by many pundits.

As for Russian President Putin, This is a big win.

The White House made a mistake in agreeing to let President Putin be the first one to give a press conference to the world's media. He looked engaging, dealt with everyone in the press room, and he set the tone and the narrative that the global media will follow.

If this was a joint conference, the world would have been able to see the contrast between the two leaders and governments. But unfortunately the White House did not want to have that happen.

This is what I call a lost opportunity.

Also .... President Putin may not have gotten anything from President Biden, but he did not lose anything either. Another win.
