Vladimir Putin has been confronted by one of his inner circle about his handling of the failing war in Ukraine, US intelligence has said.
The insider complained to Putin about 'mismanagement of the war effort' and 'mistakes' being made by those executing the campaign, it is alleged.
It is the clearest indication yet of rebellion among Russia's elite over the war and the first evidence that Putin has been directly confronted about it.

This blog has posted a number of news reports over the summer on anonymous Russian officials and the Russian public openly frustrated with Putin's slow and minimal approach towards the Ukraine war. One only needs to read Russian social media to see where the public's mood is on this war.
As I have repeated in previous posts. Putin is not the hardliner in the Kremlin, the people in his circle and those in senior positions of the government are. They are more focused on escalation. And if they were the ones running this war, Ukraine's infrastructure would have been destroyed a long time ago, and a full mobilization to take over and occupy the entire country would have been ordered months ago.
