Russia Continues To Attack Ukraine's Civilian Infrastructure

CNN: Zelensky accuses Moscow of energy ‘terrorism’ as Russian strikes knock out power for millions

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of “energy terrorism” after Moscow’s repeated attacks on key infrastructure knocked out power for hundreds of thousands of people.

About 450,000 households across Kyiv were without electricity on Friday as power outages across the country continue, according to the city’s mayor Vitalii Klitschko.

“It is one and a half times more than the recent days,” Klitschko said on Telegram.

Across the country, about 4.5 million consumers were temporarily disconnected from the power supply on Thursday under emergency and stabilization schedules, according to Zelensky.

WNU Editor: The information that I am getting is that the blackouts are impacting far more Ukrainians than the 4.5 million the Ukraine government is claiming. And that is worse is that even if the war should end today, I have been told it will take months and massive involvement and aid from the West to restore it.

The purpose of these attacks is clear. To not only destroy what remains of Ukraine's economy, but to cripple the train system that relies on electricity to ship and move Ukrainian military forces.

I do not know what impact this will have on the Ukraine military, but I do know the impact that it is having on Ukraine's economy. These attacks are succeeding. The economy is slowly imploding, and for the average Ukrainian they are now facing inflation rates and scarcity of goods like never before.

For Western leaders they now have some hard decisions to make. To provide tens of billions in more aid to Ukraine to keep the situation at least livable for its citizens, or do nothing and expect millions of more Ukrainian refugees over the winter.

I am not waiting. I have the told the few relatives I have left in Ukraine to make plans to leave in the next few weeks and come to Montreal where I live and wait until this war is over.
