Breaking News: Netherlands Signs Contract for 46 German Leopard 2A8 Tanks to Revive National Armored Battalion.

The Netherlands has taken a significant step in strengthening its military capabilities by reintroducing main battle tanks to its armed forces after a 14-year hiatus. On May 14, 2025, at the Bernardkazerne in Amersfoort, a major contract was signed between the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment (BAAINBw), acting on behalf of the Dutch procurement agency Commando Materieel en IT (COMMIT), and KNDS Deutschland.
